The Complete Singles of The Four Fours remastered from the original archive tapes.
Tauranga’s top rock and roll band of the late 1950s and early 1960s was The Four Fours, who had their own permanent gig at waterfront haunt the Inferno, which was owned by the group’s 19-year old drummer Trevor Spitz, who eventually became the head of entertainment at TVNZ.
For parents the Inferno was a real den of sin, but for the kids the club was the hottest spot in town.
The foursome rapidly became one of the most sought-after bands in the country.
With London beckoning in August 1966, they played a big farewell concert at the Auckland Town Hall, then set sail on the Fairsky to England, en route to becoming Human Instinct.
