RELEASED 2013
LABEL Loop
The self-titled record from Jamie Lidell represents a distillation of Lidell’s sonic foundations, with the collaborations of 2010’s Compass replaced with an approach that is pure and wholly Lidell – eleven tracks further proving his ability to upend expectations of the ways man and machine can make music together. The self-produced album was
committed to tape and mixed at Lidell’s newly built studio in his new home in Nashville, the latest stop on a restless journey that has seen him move from his birthplace in the heart of England, through the musical hotbeds of Berlin and New York.
Since the release of Compass – described simply as “brilliant” by The Times, and rated 4* by that publication alongside Mojo, Metro, Q and more – Lidell has traversed the globe cementing his reputation as one of the most innovative, exciting and consistently evolving live performers, before finding time to write, record and mix the new album in his new southern base.
In addition to his solo albums, which spawned singles including Multiply, Another Day and Little Bit of Feel Good, Lidell has released music with producer Cristian Vogel under the name Super_Collider and has collaborated with renowned artists including Simian Mobile Disco, Beck (on record and on Nigel Godrich’s From The Basement programme), and Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor.
