The ‘Love In Motion - Special Edition’ features the critically acclaimed previously released ‘Love In Motion’ album as well as a bonus disc which sees Anika perform the entire album acoustically from front to back. The acoustic CD will give fans a chance to engage in a more intimate listening experience. The acoustic recordings are the back-bone for Moa’s grittier, electric sound that was produced with the original release of ‘Love in Motion’ (April 5) which debuted at #4 on the NZ Albums Chart and features three amazing singles through ‘Running Through The Fire (Storm), ‘Love Me Again’ and the recently released ‘Blame It On The Rain’.
Anika Moa is back with her fourth studio album “Love in motion” due for release on April 5th 2010.
“Love in Motion” showcases the next phase of Moa’s musical growth as she substitutes acoustic pop melodies tinged with blues as exhibited in previous releases (debut album “Thinking Room”, sophomore album “Stolen Hill” and third release “In Swings The Tide”) for a grittier, electric sound.
Lyrically, “Love in Motion” thrives off the concept of love itself. Moa proudly wears her heart on her sleeve like a military badge of honour, weaving tales of the trials and tribulations of love into an electric soundscape of pulsing guitar riffs.
“All of the songs are about love that’s true”, says Moa. “But not a particular type of love. Some songs are about the people you hate to love. Some are the flip- the ones you love to hate others are about people you’re completely in love with”.
Moa’s desire to place emphasis on layering vocals and guitars, whilst simplifying song structure shortened the recording process of “Love in Motion”. The recording time was divided between Neil Finn’s Roundhead studios in Central Auckland and Bruce Lynch’s boatshed Studio in Bayswater. The album was polished further under the guidance of co-producer Andre Upston and band (Chip Matthews, Geoff Maddock, Nick Gaffanley and Godfrey Grut).
